Pre-Kindergarten
In the Pre-Kindergarten classroom, our main goal is strong preparation for kindergarten and the challenges of the world ahead of them. We work on following directions, age appropriate socialization and problem solving skills. We operate on a theme based learning approach that incorporates math, science, reading, writing and social studies. The children work on number recognition, counting, patterning, addition, subtraction, deductive reasoning, and many other math concepts. We also practice writing skills, phonics, word recognition, holding a pencil the proper way, reading and writing simple sentences.
Our Pre-Kindergarten Program is designed for children who are eligible for Kindergarten in September, but their birthdays are close to the cut off and the children could benefit from one more year in a familiar environment or by parent request. The academic focus is an increase in expectations and emphasis on pre-reading.
We also emphasize appreciation of the arts, self help skills, and health & nutrition. Our main goal is to make learning fun and enjoyable. We want our children to be secure, responsible and to have a love for learning and exploration of the world around them and the futures ahead of them.
Soaring and Exploring Revolutionary Academics
Through our progressive activities, concrete learning opportunities, and support and encouragement from our teachers, your child will soar through creating their academic foundation. Themed monthly units define our focus and direction while allowing space for self-expression and creativity. Each themed unit is inclusive of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities and CT ELDS (CT Early Learning Development Standards)

They really know our kids: what they like, what sets them off, what will distract them for a smooth and quick drop off...and they know when I need a hand getting my screaming three-year-old son into his coat, or finding an extra owl sticker for the baby, or just a pause and a chat at the end of the day before heading down the hall to gather my energetic trio.
